The Cheapest Diet

Here are a few tips that don’t cost a thing (except for throwing away a little food you won’t be eating).

1. Set your kitchen timer or stopwatch to 20 minutes, and when it goes off, push your plate away. If you find you’ve already finished your plateful, use a 15 minute cutoff next time.

2. If you’ve ordered a burger and fries, set aside the top half of the bun and exactly half the fries. Add tomato ketchup (good for you) but no mayo (bad for you). Savor each mouthful of what’s left, and clear off your tray immediately you’ve finished.

3. Never, ever, order a ‘regular’ coke – go for a same-priced ‘diet coke’.

4. Eat regularly rather than small meals at random times of day.

Above all, remember that a clean plate is not necessarily a healthy plate, and a healthy diet is not necessarily more expensive if you put a little time into looking for the best foods.
