Excuses, Excuses . . .
Tue, December 27, 2005 at 10:39AM Here are twelve common excuses people use NOT to control their weight. They are adapted from an article in O, The Oprah Magazine (December 2005), without permission:
1. I’m having the grilled cheese, so why not get fries, too?
2. I’ll just have this one cookie – I can stop at one, if I want to . . .
3. What’s the point of losing weight during the winter? I’ll get in shape in the summer.
4. Fat runs in my family, so what’s the use of exercising?
5. After that grueling workout, I deserve a bacon double cheeseburger.
6. I’ll grab a candy bar to get me through my mid-afternoon slump
7. The buffet says “All you can eat” . . .
8. It would be rude to turn down a second helping of my mother-in-law’s lasagna
9. My problem won’t seem so bad after an ice cream cone
10. I bought it at the health food store – it must be good for me.
11. Other people are going back for more, and they’re thin . . .
12. I save dessert for special occasions, and this is one.
For the correct (i.e. healthy) response to each of these (if you can’t work it out for yourself) please see Oprah ’s magazine. And, if you like, please submit here (below) any dieting tips you may have that will help others through the difficult times ahead.
