OK to Be Overweight?

There’s one occasion when it’s advantageous to be overweight, it seems. That’s if you suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. People with this condition have an increased risk of dying from cardiovascular disease (e.g. heart attack or stroke). However, if they’re overweight or obese, this risk is lessened; and that’s across the board – independent of gender, age, duration of arthritis, ethnicity, and smoking. The report is published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
