Lipomucil or Metastatin,  anyone?

When it comes to lowering cholesterol levels, many of us take a statin drug.  Many of us are also over 60, and need a bit of help with our bowels from time to time.  Here’s where a soluble fiber product comes in,  e.g. Metamucil®.  A teaspoonful a day keeps us regular and comfortable.  Now we learn that such a fiber product can equal a statin in lowering cholesterol levels – to a certain extent, anyway.  If you’re on a statin and the effect isn’t all you and your doctor wants, don’t just double the dose – take some Metamucil instead.  It works just as well.  Read about it at our summary of the study on HealthandAge.com.
