Vitamin E and Dysmenorrhea

Poor old vitamin E has been getting bad press recently, so it was a pleasure to turn up a report of 3 studies of its use in treating the symptoms of dysmenorrea (painful menstrual cramps).  There was no mention of side effects, and doses were within the 400 IU per day that regarded as the top dose, so it seems it would be well worth a trial in severe cases.  Results were positive in all 3 studies – a much better record than for those of vitamin E in other conditions, such as preventing heart disease.
