Your Clothing Size Can Tell if You’re at Risk
Wed, June 21, 2006 at 04:50AM British doctors, writing in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Diet, have recommended using clothing sizes as possible warning signals for future health problems. In a study of over 300 men and women they found that men’s pant size more than 38 inches (waist) or women’s dress size over 16 (USA size) corresponded with a 4-fold (men) or 7-fold (women) increase in having at least one major health problem – coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. Differing heights had no effect, but smoking and advancing age did.
So, for those people who aren’t prepared to get on the scales, or get out the tape measure for their waist, consider these findings. If you’re forced to wear large sized clothes, you’re in trouble!
