Saturday Quote – “Pull Yourself Together”

Have you ever had anyone tell you “Pull yourself together!” as if they meant it? If so, what were the circumstances? Probably when you were particularly distressed about something or other.

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was a pretty smart Roman Emperor who is well known for saying the following:

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”

This is maybe the best advice you can give anyone suffering distress related to an external incident. It’s brutal but true, and should prove pretty effective.
