St Patrick’s Resolution – ‘The Eating of the Green’

Saturday March 17 is St Patrick’s Day, and we are all getting ready (or at least some of us are). Apart from the parades, parties, and green beer, true and affiliated Irishmen will be ‘wearing of the green’; grouches will wear orange, if they are brave enough.

This is your opportunity to do something for your health and support the Irish, all at the same time – Eat Green!

Dieticians at the University of Michigan Health System have produced a list of ways you can introduce healthful variety into your new green diet – broccoli, leafy greens, avocado, kiwifruit, oranges (not on Saturday!), apples, and tea (green tea).

And as a bonus, remember that 250 calories eaten less each day, coupled with a minimum of daily exercise (250 calories-worth) should result in the loss of a pound a week in body weight.
