Don't Smoke and Live 14½ Years Longer
Sat, December 6, 2008 at 03:00AM Yes, it's true (on average). Just in case you didn’t succeed in quitting smoking on November 20, here’s another argument to help convince you to have another go. (And if you want help, note that March 11, 2009, is UK’s No Smoking Day. It’s easier to quit if you’re in a group, according to a recent report.)
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists are worried that women are quitting smoking at a slower rate than men. One in every 5 women in the USA still smokes. The College has issued a press release outlining the severity of the problem, including the risks for babies and children of mothers who smoke. It’s packed with alarming statistics, and if you read it you’ll rush to the various aids that are offered, provided by the American Cancer Society. Good luck!
